Giant Miner Rio Tinto's Diamond Output Plummets by 54% in Third Quarter

Giant miner Rio Tinto’s diamond output declined by 54% to 2.79 million carats in the third quarter. Nevertheless, the diamond miner’s diamond production doubled in the third quarter in comparison to the second quarter.
Diamond output plummeted by 51% at the Argyle mine to 2.27 million carats. At its Diavik diamond mine, production decreased by 64% to 497,000 carats. At the Murowa mine in Zimbabwe, diamond output dived by 72% to 21,000 carats.
During the nine months that ended on September 30, there was an overall 31% decline in diamond output to 9.58 million carats.
