The warehouse and office buildings have opened, delivery of SCHMID Group's first systems started on January 12 and production of the first modules will begin on October 15, 2015.

Following the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone on October 24, 2014 for the 71 MW photovoltaic production facility for Argentine energy provider Energia Provincial Sociedad del Estado (EPSE), the SCHMID Group announces the opening of a new warehouse and office facilities to support this project.

The office space features more than 280m² and the warehouse comprises 4,150m², both facilities are now open for business. As of January 12, 2015, the SCHMID Group began delivering the first systems for the planned production of ingots, wafers, solar cells and modules to San Juan. SCHMID Branch Argentina, founded in San Juan last year, provides spare parts and service support to the EPSE production facility. Technical personnel, engineers and administration staff will be sought-after from the local region to support this project in 2015.

James Gibbons, SCHMID's On Site Manager of the large-scale project, emphasizes: "I am very pleased to participate in this landmark project of the energy supplier EPSE. The San Juan province plays an important pioneering role in the introduction of renewable energies in Argentina and throughout South America."

Argentina's first grid-connected photovoltaic power plants were installed in San Juan in 2012. The San Juan region offers an annual solar radiation of more than 2,300 kWh per m², ideal prevailing conditions for an energy matrix featuring a high photovoltaic share. The 71MW project of the energy supplier EPSE and the SCHMID Group provides a significant contribution towards renewable energy and will supply solar power to an average of 43,000 new households each year.

The objectives of the factory´s production are to provide energy from photovoltaic centers (connected to the Wholesale Electricity Market) to residential, commercial and industrial applications, as well as irrigation pumping and mining.
