Chinese mainland-Taiwan trade volume down 29.7% in first three quarters

Trade volume between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan was 73.63 billion U.S. dollars in the first three quarters, down 29.7 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Mainland's exports to Taiwan were 13.92 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months, down 31.6 percent year on year. Imports from Taiwan was 59.71 billion U.S. dollars, down 29.2 percent from a year earlier.
During the January-September period of this year, the mainland approved 1,764 projects invested by Taiwan companies, representing an increase of 4.3 percent over the same period last year.
The mainland received 1.29 billion U.S. dollars of direct investment from Taiwan in the first three quarters, a decrease of 11.2 percent from a year earlier.
