According to Diamond Ne.ws, Alrosa may be planning the retrenchment of between 600 and 800 members of its staff in the coming year. The issue was reportedly discussed at the Russian diamond company’s recent board meeting.
The coming year’s plans include the continuation of diamond exploration and the reduction of the diamond giant’s loan portfolio as well as cutbacks in maintenance costs. Priority will reportedly be granted to investment in construction of underground primary complexes.
The downsizing will take the form of leave without pay or part-time employment.
