Canadian New Energy/Electronic Materials Corporation (Cnem), based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has been appointed North American distributor for Jinchuan Group, China's largest nickel producer. Cnem will be responsible for sales of the group's line of carbonyl nickel powders.

The company stated, “Seizing upon the withdrawal of Norilsk and its 8 million lbs. capacity from the market, Jinchuan recently commissioned a new carbonyl facility. The plant's annual output is slated to exceed 10 million lbs. and provide the ability to expand nickel powder sales beyond the Chinese domestic market.”

A range of products are produced including a filamentary powder, Type N06 and a discrete powder, Type N24 for use in Powder Metallurgy, specialty alloys, battery and fuel cell electrodes etc.
