Chinese producers of color coating sheet triumphed recently in a one-year-and-a-half long anti-dumping charge brought by Russian competitors, who accused the Chinese producers of dumping too many low-priced materials to their squeezed market.
On March 18, 2008, the Russian government decided to launch anti-dumpling investigations on color coating sheet imported from China, South Korea, Belgium, Finland and Kazakhstan, involving, in the case of China including Ansteel, a value of up to $247 million, the biggest ever imposed by Russia against the Chinese side.
China is facing more trade frictions with emerging economies like Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, exporters should be on alert to this trend and respond positively in case of being involved.
Last week Russias Ministry of Economic development and trade announced a plan to impose 29.4 percent of punitive duties on pipes from China. Talks on the issue between the two sides are still under way.
