Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on Thursday in El-Hedjira, province of Ouargla (800-km south of Algiers), launched a 30-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic electric generating station project.

Estimated at DZD5 billion, the plant project, to be operational in September, is due to contribute to improving power supply in this area, composed of two communes: El-Hedjira and El-Alia.

According to the details provided to the Premier and his delegation, the station is expected to create some 250 jobs, in a first stage, and about fifty while in operation.

The prime minister, leading a delegation made up of many ministers, continues his working visit by inspecting, launching and inaugurating other projects belonging to the sectors of housing, health, energy, higher education and tourism in various parts of the province.
