11% Rise in India's Cut and Polished Diamond Exports in September

In September 2009, India’s cut and polished diamond exports reached $1762 million, constituting an11% increase over $1589 million in the corresponding month last year when the world economic slowdown began.
India’s exports of gold jewelry ebbed this September. Gold jewelry exports from India declined by 17%, amounting to $660 million, in comparison to $792 million during the same month last year.
In September 2009, India’s exports of colored gemstones rose by 26% percent to $33 million, as compared to $41 million in the same month last year.
