Engis’s MPM series bore finishing machines are designed to finish small parts with bores ranging from 1.4 to 10 mm using the single-pass process. The single-pass process promotes reliable finishing to tight tolerances at a lower overall cost per piece. Other benefits, according to the company, include improved bore quality, no rejects, less frequent need for part inspection, shorter cycle times and higher production rates.
The bore finishing machine features six individually controlled spindles with speeds ranging from 100 to 3,000 rpm, enabling custom speed control and accurate torque monitoring with advanced safety provisions. High-efficiency motors mean reduced coolant requirements and waste generation. Quick-change capability eases change-over between multiple applications. No compressed air is required, and a movable coolant system slides into the machine’s base during operation. The finishing machine is equipped with a Schneider M241 touchscreen programmable logic controller and supports remote operator monitoring and control using a tablet or similar mobile device. Optional features include a rotary manifold for pneumatically activated clamping, various toolholders, full perimeter guarding and fixturing packages.
