Prospecting License for Diamond Mining in Madhya Pradesh Granted to RIL

Art of Jewellery reports that a prospecting license for diamond mining has been granted by the Madhya Pradesh government to a diamond exploration subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited.
The subsidiary will reportedly begin diamond prospecting in an area covering 1800 sq. km. in the Rewa, Sidhi and Satna districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The diamond exploration company reportedly plans to invest Rs 1000 crore in the prospecting work. The RIL subsidiary is the second private company to undertake diamond prospecting in India’s Madhya Pradesh area following world diamond mining giant Rio Tinto.
The prospecting license includes permission to excavate for other minerals such as gold, copper, lead, zinc and silver.
