First Solar Photovoltaic Project in Kerala Opened

The first grid interactive solar photovoltaic project in Kerala set up in the Chalayoor tribal colony at Agali in Attappadi was inaugurated by Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed on Monday.
Chief engineer who presented the report said that the rooftop project would help access quality electricity. The scheme has been implemented by installing solar panels on the roof tops of 40 households at Chalayoor colony, with a maximum installed capacity of 96 kilowatt of power (KWp). The solar panels have been installed in the central portions of the houses in the colony.
He said that the day-time generation from the proposed plants would be fed into the KSEB common grid and banked against evening consumptions. The proposed plant will also provide a database to study the effectiveness of solar photo voltaic at high altitudes as Agali is at about 1000 metres above the sea level.
Adv N Shamsudheen MLA presided over the meet. Block panchayat presidents K Rajan and Bindu were also present.
