SHANGHAI plans to recruit 116 financial talents in its second overseas recruitment to fuel the city's plans to be a financial hub by 2020.
Shanghai Financial Services Office will lead representatives of 17 financial institutions, including banks, insurers and brokerages, to seek experienced senior talents in New York, Toronto and Singapore from this week.
The city hired 66 overseas talents in the first hiring campaign on Wall Street and in the City of London last year.
Shanghai has already set up initiatives to attract and retain financial professionals by addressing quality-of-life concerns such as health care and education to help build itself into the world's leading financial center.
The city is not lacking numbers in the financial industry but is short of experienced talent. The industry accounts for more than 10 percent of the local economy, providing 200,000 jobs.
