Dubai Diamond Exchange Board Holds Inaugural Meeting

The Art of Jewellery reports that the newly appointed board of directors of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a subsidiary of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), held its inaugural meeting recently and reviewed the strategy for enhancing Dubai's role in the world diamond trade.
The board visited the DDE trading floor in Almas Tower, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and reviewed the local diamond industry’s alignment with global market and diamond trade conditions.
In addition, the board reportedly discussed updates to the Diamond Masterplan, which was initiated two years ago.
Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, stated: “DDE has gained global recognition and is ranked among the world’s top five rough diamond distributors. With prominent industry veterans on the DDE board, we are confident of enhancing Dubai's appeal as an attractive diamond trade hub at a regional and global level."
The new board of directors includes high-profile members of the international, regional and local diamond and jewelry industry, including Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman of DMCC; Dilip Mehta, CEO of Rosy Blue NV; Pankaj Mehta, CEO of Dimexon Eurostar and other leading diamantaires.
