Chhattisgarh to Start Mining Diamonds within Three Years

According to Commodity Online, the Indian state of Chhattisgarh is to start mining diamonds within three years, while several national and international players have prospected for diamonds in seven districts.
Chief Minister Raman Singh commented that the prospecting by various companies for diamonds is already in an advanced stage and that those same companies are now moving in towards the areas where there is solid evidence of diamond reserves.
Among the twelve or so companies involved in the diamond mining project, are London and Melbourne based Rio Tinto and Jindal Steel and Power.
To date, Chhattisgarh has a total of 28 rich deposits which include diamonds.
