It is well known that it results in hanging key or extra change when surface has step structure, therefore less steady than plane. It is a fact to silicon surface. Although diamond has the same crystal structure with silicon, the step structure is a departure from silicon. Recently, researchers Yang Hongxin, Xu Lifang, Fang Zhong, Gu Changzhi from Chinese Academy of Sciences Physics Institute co-operated with Professor Zhang Shengbai from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. They research the clean diamond surface step structure with 1st principle. They found step structure ratio (2¡Á1) is steadier by calculating step formation ability. It is the most common that there is crystal lattice reformation in the surface of semi¡ªconductor. It results in physical properties which is different from body. Because of the importance of foundation and application and research aspect of surface reformation, people worked hard in the past decades. This is a long¡ªterm objectives that whether simple theory can be offered or not and present definite laws in the research of typical semi¡ªconductor surface reformation.
