China-India Forum on Economic and Trade Cooperation to Be Held in January

China-India Forum on Economic and Trade Cooperation & China-India Enterprises Matching Conference (hereinafter "Forum") will be held on January 19 in Beijing Tianlun Dynasty Hotel jointly by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India. This forum aims to further enhance the understanding and exchange among enterprises of both countries and promote the pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation in 2010 which marks the 60th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce of China, and Sharma, Minister of Commerce & Industry of India, will attend the forum and deliver their speeches.
In recent years, China-India economic and trade cooperation have developed fast with the great common efforts of the industrial and commercial community and cares from leaders of both countries. In 2008, China-India trade value amounted to US$51.8 billion, up 34 percent year on year. China has become the largest trade partner of India, and the latter was the 9th largest trade partner of China. Enterprises of China have played an active role in the Indian engineering projects involving fields of electronic power, telecommunication and transportation, etc. The cooperation of the two countries has been enhanced steadily. Famous enterprises, like China's Haier, Huawei, ZTE, and TCL, India's Tata Consultancy Service and Infosys have constantly made great progress in investment of each other. As the two most populous developing countries in the world, China and India have great potential to further develop the mutually beneficial economic and trade relations.
The Forum is organized by China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronics Products, supported and coordinated by China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, China Chamber of Commerce of Medicines & Health Products Importers & Exporters, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Confederation of Indian Industry.
