An ambitious merger plan has been approved by the Tianjin Municipal Government to set up Tianjin Bohai Iron and Steel Group as a result of consolidating four local steelmakers including Tianjin Steel Pipe, Tianjin Tiantie Group, Tianjin Steel Group and Tianjin Metallurgy Group. The new group will have a capacity of more than 20 million tons per year.
