The Bureau of Fair Trade for Imports and Exports of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) recently issued data showing that in 2009 European Union (EU) put 7 new trade remedy investigations on China on file, accounting for 58% of total new cases on file by EU across the globe, thus China was still the primary target country of EU in trade remedy investigation.
The situation of EU to conduct China's trade remedy investigation will be gloomy in 2010. Although its economy has slightly recovered, EU will have much difficulty in getting rid of the impact of economic crisis in a short term, and especially its member countries maintain a high unemployment rate and the requirement of EU industrial circle for trade protectionism is strong. Simultaneously, EU still doesn't recognize the status of Chinese market economy at present, easily ruling high anti-dumping tax on Chinese products.
