Shandong Academy of Sciences, Oxford University and Jinan Municipal Government signed an agreement on the afternoon of January 12 to officially launch the research project of Jinan municipality on the low-carbon economic strategic planning to boost Jinan's low-carbon economic development so as to render Jinan to be an example for Chinese large and medium-sized cities in low-carbon economic development.

Such project in the name of "China: way of cities at different levels of economic development to low-carbon economy" is supported by the UK "Low-Carbon and High-Growth Strategy Planning Fund", jointly undertaken by Oxford University, Shandong Academy of Sciences and Guizhou International Cooperation Center for Environmental Protection and jointly managed by the National Development and Reform Commission and British Embassy in China.
