Liuzhou Steel’s output topped eight million tons in 2009. The mill took the lead nationwide in the amount of material consumption (1,059 kg per ton of steel) and the average eligible ratio of hot metal (99.98 percent). Its production costs fell by 142 yuan per ton from 2008, creating economic benefits of more than 300 million yuan.
