China Became Brazilian Largest Trade Partner

The revised figures of foreign trade in 2009 issued by Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on January 14 indicated that China has replaced the US to be Brazilian largest trade partner.
Based on the previously released data, bilateral trade volume between Brazil and the US in 2009 amounted to approximately USD35.9b, USD100m more than that of Brazil and China. However, the revised data showed that trade volume of Brazil and China increased to roughly USD36.1b, while that of Brazil and the US remained the same.
The latest statistic data indicated that in 2009, total export of Brazil to China stood at USD20.191b, and import USD15.911b, with Brazilian trade surplus to China of USD4.28b. Total export of Brazil to the US reached USD15.74b, and import USD20.183b, with Brazilian trade deficit to the US of USD4.443b.
