Established in 1958, Zhengzhou Research Institute for Abrasives & Grinding is the only general institute in abrasives and superhard material industry. The first synthetic diamond was developed successfully in 1963, CBN in 1967. It developed resin bond, metal bond, ceramics bond diamond and CBN grinding wheel, cutting tools, drilling tools, etc. constantly. The institute undertakes project of all kinds scientific research of country, province, city and obtains the scientific research achievement reward 1270 items, national and provincial achievements reward 150 items. It makes great contribution to conventional abrasives, superhard material and products. In 1999 it turned into Sci-Tech Enterprise which is subordinated to China Machinery Industry Group Co., Ltd.

Small production place seriously restrains the development of institute. Under the guidance of director Zhu Feng, the leading group made a decision that was to buy 100 mu as the building land for new institute in Zhengzhou high and new technology industrial development zone. New institute had been accomplished by the end of 2009. The investment of first engineering project was 0.11 Billion Yuan. The total construction area is 30 thousand square meters, among that office area 7 thousand square meters and experimental area 23 thousand square meters. The leading group decided to move to new institute from Jan 15th – Feb 5th.
