Compression molding of spherical carbon and Synthesis of diamond from it

Abstract In this research,high quality diamonds were synthesized in a China-made cubic high-pressure apparatus(CHPA)(SPD-6 1 200)at 5.5 GPa and 1 400oC for 300 s.Natural spectroscopically pure scalelike graphite powder(400 mesh)and spherical graphite(400 mesh)were used respectively as carbon source,Fe-based alloy powder(75μm)was used as solvent-catalyst.The results based on the comparison and analysis indicated that high quality diamonds can also be synthesized from spherical graphite,but the temperature temperature condition of synthesis from spherical graphite was 1 00oC higher than that from scalelike graphite.
