As a ten-million-ton steelmaker, Tangshan Steel sticks to the principle of developing itself into a sources-saving, environmentally friendly and economically sustainable producer. The mill reduced the amount of sulfur dioxide emissions by 4,200 tons to 17,729 tons last year and Chemical Oxide Demand emissions by 220 tons to 910 tons. It used 580 kg of standard coal to produce one ton of steel, removed three 400-cubic meter blast furnaces, three 60-square meter sintering machines and an 8-square meter shaft furnace, reducing the air pollution from the root.
