Moshe Mosbacher, president of the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) of New York, World Federation of Diamond Bourse's and Israel Diamond Exchange president Avi Paz, and Beurs voor Diamanthandel CVBA President Artur Beller, met recently to discuss the current status of the worldwide diamond industry, GJEPC has learned.
According to the website, the three also reviewed possible cooperations which could help boost business opportunities for all diamantaires.
The three industry leaders' meeting, said GJEPC, focused on improving the industry's transparency and ensuring that all members are in agreement with respect to issues affecting the 28 WFDB member bourses. Mosbacher also updated his colleagues on a recent meeting he had with human rights activists and US State Department officials in Washington DC, regarding Zimbabwe and the Kimberley Process.
The DDC president reportedly said that in order to “achieve industry-wide cooperation, issues affecting us worldwide would be brought before the March WFDB executive committee meeting in Antwerp or the WFDB Congress scheduled to convene in Moscow from July 11-14, 2010".
Mosbacher urged industry members to contact him regarding issues that they felt required action by the organized diamond industry, as well as ideas that may have to bring about closer working relationships among the bourses.
