South Africa's Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu would like to see her country's mining industry instate a reform, Mining Weekly reported.
According to the report, Shabangu, who spoke at mining conference in Cape Town, said that transformation remains the mining industry's most significant challenge and one it has to undergo in order to advance.
Shabangu noted that particular areas of concern for SA's government were some of the mining industry's companies' business and investment practices.
Mining Weekly quoted South African Minerals Development Association director Sipho Dube as saying that mining companies should not take the issue of transformation lightly given the history of both country and continent.
