The Surat Diamond Association (SDA) has raised various concerns regarding the problems diamond exporters in India face during a recent state-level bankers' committee meeting held at Ahmedabad.
According to the Times of India, the SDA has shown willingness to organize training programs for the diamond exporters and importers in procedural and foreign exchange matters.
According to Surat Diamond Association President Rohit Mehta, the committee decided to take corrective action regarding the brokerage issue in the diamond industry, as well as in other various financial procedures.
"The issue of diamond brokerage was raised at the committee meeting. We have demanded that the brokerage in the diamond industry should be considered as a legitimate and steady income, so that the diamond brokers could get the benefit of bank loans," he said.
