How to Identify Diamond Blades You Need

Post Date: 06 Mar 2010    Viewed: 577

When you are going to buy diamond blades, you should first identify what kind of blades you need. If the diamond blades’ quality is much higher than your needs, you will waste your money; if their quality is lower than your needs, you (or your customers) will not be able to complete your (or their) jobs; if there are no problems with the diamond blades’ quality, but the blades just do not match the objects to be cut, you also can’t do your jobs well.

The quality of diamond blades is determined by many factors, which include diamonds’ quality, diamond concentration, bond materials, the steel blade’s quality, manufacture technology and equipments, etc. In fact, it is difficult for you to make sure all the factors when buying diamond blades, even though you ask your supplier if he is not the manufacturer, for without special instruments, it is very hard to know many of these factors.

To say your requirements on diamond blades’ quality, you can simply tell your supplier the nature of the stone (or other materials to be cut), and how long and how deep you wish the blades should cut. Manufacturers can refer to these requirements and then determine these quality related factors, such as diamond hardness, grit and concentration. It is not true that the higher quality the better, because too high quality means waste.

In addition to the quality, it is also very important that the features of diamond blades match the nature of the stone (or other materials to be cut). The diamond hardness, diamond grit, diamond concentration, bond hardness and abradability can all vary. Our article – how to select suitable diamond blades – provides a detailed table to explain these relationships. You can refer to it.

According to the manufacture methods, diamond blades can be categorized to sintered ones and welded ones. Sintered diamond blades are normally small (diameters smaller than 400 mm), and are normally used on hand-held circular saws and angle grinders. Welded diamond blades can be of big diameter, and can be used on strong-power machines. Sintered diamond blades are much cheaper than welded ones.
