Abstract: Cr, Ni coatings are prepared on the surface of SMD35 diamond by CVLT (chemical vapour liquid treatment). It is found by X-ray diffraction analysis that there is Cr3C2 carbide on the diamond surface, which proved the chemical bonding between the diamond and the metal coatings. Morphology observation, formation analysis, thermal weight loss and compressive strength tests of metalized diamond by CVLT and uncoated diamond under high temperature were carried out. The results indicated that, after heated at 1000℃, the weight loss ratio of metalized diamond was lower by 1/4 and the compressive strength increased by 1/3 compared with those of uncoated diamond.
