Abstract: Particle reinforced aluminum matrix composite is a typical hard-to-work material. In this research, experimental research was made on the ground quality of SiC reinforced aluminum matrix composite material using electroplated diamond grinding wheel. The results indicated that when the spindle speed was 6000r/min, the feed speed was 300mm/min, and the depth of cut was 0.05mm, the wear amount of wheel diameter was 0.11mm when the cutting length reached 30m. A design ground surface roughness of 0.57-1.12um was obtained under the experiment parameters. The wear form and wear mechanism of the diamond wheel during machining were also discussed in the paper.
