MIIT Released Chinese Import and Export from January to February 2010

In the first two months of this year, the national import and export totaled USD386.4b, up 44.8% year-on-year (affected by the relatively low base from the same period last year); among them, export amounted to USD204.1b, up 31.4% year-on-year; and import USD182.3b, up 63.6% year-on-year; consequently, the trade surplus reached USD21.8b, down USD22.1b from the same period last year.
In February, import and export slightly fell compared with the previous month, and the nationwide import and export stood at USD181.4b, up 45.2% year-on-year, down 11.5% from January due to the Spring Festival holidays. Export was USD94.5b, down 13.7% from a month earlier, up 45.7% year-on-year; import USD86.9b, down 8.9% from a month earlier, up 44.7% year-on-year. The trade surplus was consequently USD7.6b.
