ABSTRACT: the bonding condition achieved by hot-pressing iron-based, nickel-based, cobalt-based and copper-based powders with Mo-coated diamonds(by megnetron sputter Mo)has been studied by means of Transverse Rupture Strength (TRS)tesing, SEM and EDAX. It is shown that the main elements(Fe, Ni, Co, Cu)0f the matrices has diffused to diamond surfaces and casused most of the coatings scale off the diamond grits. the Mo—coating is only effective in improving TRS in cobalt-based matrix. the reason of which was also discussed in the paper.
