Steel on state blacklist of environmental oversight

China’s environmental protection minister Zhou Shengxian disclosed at a televised conference that the number of environment-related pollution incidents last year rose by 26.6 percent, and more than half of them were caused by the heavy metals sector. This year the ministry will be out to overhaul illicit discharging behaviors among heavy metal producers and tighten oversights on the pollution by key sectors including steel.
