Superhard Abrasives Cladding Technology and Its Application

ABSTRACT: The interface reation, interface construction and bond between super-hard abrasive(diamond and CBN)
and metals are discussed. According to the results of the interface action, the metals are classified as following three kinds one is the affine metals can react with the diamond to form steady carbides, such as Ti, W, Cr, Mo etc. other is the inert metals that have not any action with the diamond, such as Cu etc. the third is catalyst metals that promote the transformation of the diamond into graphite when the metals come into contact with the diamond at high temperature, such as Fe, Co, Ni etc. The conditions of making strong bond betweer the affine metals and the diamond are given bv test results of the interface bond strength and interface reaction.Industry application effect of some coating super-hard abrasive is analyzed on the basis of these theory and test results.
