HK's goods exports up 24.8% in February

Hong Kong saw a growth of 24.8 percent in total goods exports in February while the volume of goods imports rose 20.5 percent on a year earlier, the authority announced Tuesday.
The Census & Statistics Department said the volume of goods re- exports increased 25.3 percent while that of domestic exports grew 5.5 percent.
Comparing with the same period of last year, the volume of goods re-exports rose 21.2 percent in the first two months of 2010 while that of domestic exports went up 21.1 percent. Taken together, the volume of total goods exports grew 21.2 percent while the volume of goods imports rose 29.2 percent.
In February, the prices of goods re-exports went up 2.8 percent on a year earlier while those of domestic exports rose 3.3 percent. Taken together, the prices of total goods exports rose 2.8 percent. The prices of goods imports rose 3.3 percent.
The terms of trade index fell 0.4 percent both in February and in the first two months of the year over the same period in 2009.
