Coated abrasive is a general species of abrasives which is used for grinding and polishing. The characteristic is flexible grinding that is different from bonded abrasive. Coated abrasives mainly include: grinding cloth, grinding paper, water-proof abrasive paper, abrasive belts, fiber abrasive discs, flap discs, abrasive sleeves, non-woven fabrics, cotton buff, abrasives film, etc. China is the large country in producing coated abrasives. The ultimate output of 2008 amounted to 0.3 billion square meters and gross output value more than 3 billion Yuan.

Established in 1984, Coated Abrasives Sub-Association of China was approved by Ministry of Civil Affairs of PRC. It is the national social organization that has the status of body corporate. It has coated abrasives products and related abrasive, textile, papermaking, bond, etc. There are more than hundreds of members including equipment manufacturers, marketing and application companies, scientific research institutions, colleges and so on. The highest authority of association is member representative conference. The council, which consists of chairman, deputy chairman, standing director, council member, secretary-general, is responsible for when it is not in session. Secretariat handles daily work of association that is a permanent body located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China.

Applications for association’s member must meet the following basic requirements: legally acquired business license, lawful operation, the capacity of production and operation, to recognize and comply with regulations, to pay membership dues timely, voluntary application for membership. Enterprise is entitled to the membership discussed and adopted by the council. Legal person of member unit is the representative of association.

Taking Deng Xiaoping theory and scientific development concept as guide the association implements “people-oriented” to serve enterprises. It represents and safeguards the interests of members. It plays the role of bridge and link between government and customers. The characteristics of the association are internationality, folksiness, service, and impartiality.

The main tasks of association are as follows: to investigate industrial development and reform; to provide suggestions on policy, law, regulations, development planning, reform program for government; to organize enterprises to exchange the experiences about reform and management; to guide the enterprises to deepen the reform; to spread the achievements of reform and management; to promote enterprises to establish a modern system; to improve the economic benefits of enterprises; to push the independent innovations of enterprises and alter the development ways; to promote the enterprise to save energy and reduce emission; to enhance the comprehensive capacities of industry and adjust the structure rationally; to assist in enacting and amending the standards of technology, economy, management and implement them; to carry out the industry examination and appraisal and improve the products quality that are below the standard; to launch the statistics for analyzing and researching the technology-economic indicator of industry; to predict the advanced technology trend through collecting industry dynamics at home and abroad; to establish the perfect conscious system based on honest and credible; to create a fair competition environment for enterprises; to enhance market competition capacity of enterprises; to establish professional website and publish magazines and data; to provide useful information for enterprises.

Coated Abrasives Sub-Association of China has a journal and the website--www.cncaa.org. It delivers information on policy, regulations, technology and business through traditional media and modern network accurately. The association accelerates the technical progress and enterprise development.
