The Executive Committee of Russian diamond giant Alrosa has approved the company’s objectives for 2010 which include maintaining and consolidating the diamond company’s leadership position in mining and rough diamond sales through the development of a system of long-term supply agreements with the world’s major diamond consumers and by building up direct and predictable client relationships. Alrosa seeks to diversify its sales geographically and implement transparent pricing mechanisms to ensure the accessibility of rough diamond goods.
Other objectives this year include expanding the diamond company’s mineral reserves, as well as developing efficient technologies for mining and processing low-grade commercial ores.
Concerning the company’s finances, Alrosa aims to convert its short-term debentures into long-term ruble and euro bonds and bring down the proportion of short-term debt, as well as decrease the aggregate debt level.
