World Diamond Council Hosting Discussion on Kimberley Process and Consumer Confidence

The World Diamond Council (WDC) will be hosting a panel discussion during the educational program of the upcoming JCK-Las Vegas Show, entitled "Diamond Dialogue - the Kimberley Process and Consumer Confidence."
WDC President Eli Izhakoff says the panel discussion, sponsored by the Diamond Information Center (DIC), will present a current snapshot of the decade-long campaign to eradicate the trade in conflict diamonds, what challenges the Kimberley Process is currently facing and what measures are needed to improve its operation and the situation on the ground. In particular, the panel will look at the new initiatives being undertaken by the Kimberley Process to ensure consumer confidence in the diamond trade.
Joining Izhakoff on the panel will be Brad Brooks-Rubin from the U.S. State Department; Matt Runci, President of Jewelers of America and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Responsible Jewelry Council, Cecilia L. Gardner, President and CEO of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee, Noora Jamsheer of the UN Panel of Experts on Cote D'Ivoire, John Hall, Corporate Relations Manager at Rio Tinto; and representatives of NGOs active in the industry. The discussion will be moderated by Dorothee Gizenga, Director of the Diamond Development Initiative.
The event is scheduled take place on June 3, 2010, 12:30 P.M.-1:45 P.M., in the Titian Room 2201, which is located on Level 2 of the Venetian/Palazzo Congress Center.
