World's largest bearing company SKF is exhibiting its new energy efficient bearings and an innovative solution for bearing arrangement in wind mills in the Swedish pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
"The World Expo is a great opportunity for us to meet many of our local and international customers and to show many of the new products and solutions we have developed," Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO, said on Monday in a statement from the company which is based in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city.
Johnstone said the wind power industry in China is growing very fast and SKF supplies the leading manufacturers with bearings, seal, lubrication systems and condition monitoring solutions.
"China is a rapidly growing and very important market for SKF and during the last three years SKF has significantly increased its investments in the country," Johnstone said.
With a long history in the Chinese market since 1916, SKF has opened three new factories in China and the largest one is in Dalian with an investment of 1.1 billion kronor (about 160 million U.S. dollars) and 600 employees when completed, said the statement. SKF has also opened a wind industry service center and two SKF Solution Factories in the country.
"Today China is our third largest market and we firmly intend to continue the strong development of our business in China," Johnstone added.
