For the first time, ImaGem is presenting to the diamond community its Grader and Clarity machines at The JCK Show in Las Vegas, June 4-7, 2010. These specialized instruments, backed by a patented database system provide accurate and repeatable grading, are the central elements of ImaGem’s concept of an “On-site Lab” that can be set up in a space of 100 sq. ft anywhere in the world.
“Diamond grading as practiced today is antiquated - it is labor intensive, inefficient, non-repeatable and has placed a huge financial burden on the industry. The subjectivity in grading has continued to create doubt in the entire diamond market," said Dr. Lalit K. Aggarwal, Chairman and Founder of ImaGem, Inc. Conservative estimates place this cost upwards of several hundred million dollars a year worldwide. Members of the trade are aware of these costs but are afraid of switching because of the unknown and possible backlash from the industry.
"After several years of use, ImaGem systems have proven their reliability and value in the market place. We expect manufacturers, labs, and retailers to increasingly switch to ImaGem system that guarantees grading, reduces the cost of grading, creates consumer confidence and provides new and exciting business opportunities," said Dr. Aggarwal.
The GL 3100 Grader grades loose diamonds for color, fluorescence, light behavior, proportions, symmetry and more. The GL 5100 Clarity machine is used to map inclusions in rough and polished diamonds.
