ABSIRACT: The effects of coolant and nozzle on friction are discussed. A mathematical model of friction coefficient on

the slngle-grit grinding has been developed. Based on the experimental result and the model. The friction coefficient of the single-grit grinding is studied. The experimental results showed that there exists a critical grinding speed. While below the critical grinding speed, the friction coefficient decreases with the increase of grinding speed. On the contrary, after above the critical grinding speed the frection coefficient increases slightly with the increase of frinding speed. It is called speed effect friction coefficient.
