ABSTRACT:The charactedstics of diamond Partices, including size, shape, inclusion amount, impact strength, single particle fracture and thermal stability, determine their behavior in practical applications. The interrelationship of these characreristics is discussed through analysing nine different kinds of GE company’s diamond particles. The results showed that the mechanical properties of diamond depend strongly on its shape, impurity amount of the crystals and other facrors. With the same size, the mechanical properties of diamond such as impact strength, single partical strength and thermal stability increase with the rise of the grade of diamond, the shape of erystals(elongation, roundness, ellipticity, crystallinity, roughness) will also improved. In addition, the lower the content of magnetic substances in grits, the better the qualitiy of grits.
