Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang met Thursday with Vice President of the European Commission for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes in Beijing, and agreed to enhance cooperation in the information industry.
Hailing the 35-year diplomatic ties between China and the European Union (EU), Zhang said the two sides had enjoyed increasing cooperation since establishing comprehensive strategic partnership in 2003.
The Chinese government attached great importance to the country's information construction, and would work with the EU to expand pragmatic cooperation in information and communications technology innovation, Zhang said.
"This will help promote the healthy growth of China-EU relations," he said.
Kroes applauded China's development achievements, saying the EU valued the cooperation and exchanges with China in the information industry.
