Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday he was interested in building a industrial complex to attract more Chinese companies to invest in the country.
"We could call it Chinese industrial complex 'ni hao (Chinese word for hello)' or 'xie xie (Chinese for thanks)'," Chavez said at a signing ceremony of four agreements between Venezuela and the Chinese famous electrical appliance producer Haier.
The complex could be built in Valles del Tuy, a town 60 kilometers southwest of the capital Caracas, the president said.
Under one of the agreements, Venezuela will import 229,000 sets of electrical appliances from the Chinese brand starting from August.
"Haier is a world colossus," said Chavez. Senior managers of Haier and the Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela Zhao Rongxian were also present at the ceremony.
One of the projects covered by the agreements is the construction of an industrial park in Venezuela to produce and sale electrical equipment.
"We are going to continue inviting Chinese companies. I welcome them and we have reached agreements to reduce the differences during negotiations," Chavez said.
Venezuela is China's fifth largest trade partner in Latin America.
