Belgium April Diamond Figures Indicate Rising Prices

Polished diamond exports from Antwerp in April showed a rising price per carat, according to PolishedPrices, highlighting the upward trend in prices.
The country’s polished diamond exports in April rose 16.2% in terms of value to $696.3 million, although in terms of volume exports, at 522,574 carats, were down 8.4% compared to the same month last year.
Polished diamond imports in April were up 5.4% in terms of value to $703 million, though fell 10.9% in terms of carats to 597,000 carats, reports PolishedPrices.
Rough diamond exports in April rose 46.8% in dollar terms to $893.4 million, compared to April 2009. In terms of volume rough exports were up 51.4% at 10.4 million carats.
Rough diamond imports in April rose 125.9% to $900 million. In terms of volume, rough diamond imports increased 90.1% to 10.1 million carats.
