Singapore's total trade grew strongly by 27 percent in first quarter 2010 on a year-on-year basis, according to a statement by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore on Thursday.
The level of total trade reached 210 billion Singapore dollars (151.08 billion U.S dollars) in the first three months of the year, and total exports and imports grew year-on-year by 28 and 26 percent respectively.
Total trade's year-on-year rise in the first quarter can be attributed to increases in both oil and non-oil trade. Oil trade grew by 58 percent year-on-year in the first quarter this year, while non-oil trade increased by 19 percent in the first quarter this year.
