GAC: Foreign Import and Export Volume Rose 44% Year-on-Year in the First 5 Months

The General Administration of Customs (GAC) issued the foreign import and export status of China from January to May on June 10. Based on the statistics of GAC, in the first 5 months, China’s foreign import and export volume amounted to USD1.10009t, up 44% from the same period last year (the same below). Among them, export reached USD567.74b, up 33.2%; import USD532.35b, up 57.5%; and the trade surplus USD35.39b, down 59.9%.
Statistics of GAC indicated that China’s import and export stood at USD243.99b, up 48.4% in May. Among them, export amounted to USD131.76b, up 48.5%, up 18.1 percentage points from the previous month; and import USD112.23b, up 48.3%. Compared with May, 2008, import and export rose 10.2%, of which export increased 9.2% and import 11.4%.
