Up to now, Chongqing municipal newly signed contracted projects in other countries, labor service cooperation and design consultation projects have reached 24 ones, with the contract amount of USD577.32m, thus breaking through the ceiling of USD500m. The foreign trade and economy projects of the municipality present new characteristics: firstly, the projects of RMB100m become the main mainstay. This year has witnessed the south section project of the outer-ring expressway in Colombo, Sri Lanka with the bid won by China Communication No. 2 Navigation Bureau and the general contracting project of 500,000 tons of materials for steelmaking use for Brazilian CSN gained by CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd, with contract amount both being more than USD200m. Secondly, single project becomes the mainstream of engineering projects. The capability of Chongqing’s engineering enterprises to independently explore overseas market is being strengthened, and 8 ones among the newly signed 9 contracted projects in other countries this year are the ones gained by the municipal engineering enterprises themselves. And thirdly, major overseas engineering projects go smoothly. The projects of large-sized state-owned corporate groups including Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (Group) Co., Ltd, Chongqing Construction Engineering Group Corporation Limited and ChongQing City Construction Investment, Corporation with the total contract amount of nearly RMB1.5b go smoothly, which will lay a solid foundation for the continuous growth of foreign contracted projects of the municipality.
