Contract Value of Foreign Direct Investment in Shanghai up 17.6% Year-on-year in May

Shanghai signed 227 contract items in foreign direct investment in May, up 8.2% year-on-year; the contract value of foreign direct investment was USD1.18b, up 17.6%; the actual paid-in amount was USD903m, with an increase of 2.8%.
In the same month, the second industry in Shanghai signed 25 contract items in foreign direct investment, increasing by 4.2% year-on-year; the contractual foreign investment amount was USD298m, down 15.2%, accounting for 25.3% of the city’s total contractual amount. The tertiary industry in Shanghai signed 252 contract items in foreign direct investment, with an increase of 9.1%; the contractual foreign investment amount was USD891m, up 38.1%, accounting for 75.5%, which was 50.2 percentage points higher than the proportion of secondary industry; it was shown that the investment in the tertiary industry was absolutely the dominant force.
