Diamdel reported strong diamond demand for the second quarter of 2010, saying small and medium scale specialist manufacturers continued dominating sales.
According to the De Beers website, Diamdel provided opportunities to buy a full range of rough diamonds during sales events held in Q2 2010 via its online auction channel.
Some 157 lots were made available during this period, added the posting, and 95% of them were sold at their first presentation, with only 5% not meeting reserve.
Neil Ventura, Managing Director of Diamdel, said that ‘’97% of the 295 lots we have made available at auction in H1 have sold at their first presentation and competition throughout this half year has remained most intense for rough in the +2ct ranges.
‘’Strong results have been driven by strong participation," he continued. "We have continued to see a full market in operation during Q2 with broad based participation from all customer groups in all our major markets.
"Some 164 different businesses have participated year to date and small to medium scale specialist manufacturers have won more than two thirds of these lots, so we are seeing a different profile of participation from H1 2008."
